District meeting
Commandant SHOBERG arrived a bit earlier than myself and Greg GEORGE. The Allegheny Marines have a "swell" place over in Springdale. Chinese Auction and 50/50 tables set up ... enough seating for all. (I counted 40 to 45 Leaguers in attendance.) Well lighted, plenty of tables with room to write, and good sound, not echo'ee. Plenty of room to "MingleMingle" ... and the aroma of the Mess Line torpedoes (Stuffed cabbage,) rigatonis, several salads, and a lovely cake, cookie, pie selection. This followed after the meeting. It was an excellent meeting. Formation fell in at 1300hrs ... proper opening ceremony. A concise report will follow when I get with Marine GEORGE. Including the dates. He does take real good notes. More district and state meetings coming up. Not sure, Johnstown or Jonestown. Both are seats for past meetings. However, are we as a Detachment compliant with TaxExempt 990? Do we "initial" when Officers are sworn in and sent to State? Does our WebSite go both State and National? Commandant WALTERS did a fine job putting it together and presenting it along with fine cadre of Officers performing their respective duties. |
